On October 1, the Macao SAR government held a flag-raising ceremony at the Golden Lotus Square to celebrate the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, with the flag escort formation adopting Chinese-style marching for the first time. At 8 a.m., the flag escort team composed of the Macao Public Security Police Force's special police unit escorted the national flag of the People's Republic of China and the regional flag of the Macao SAR into the square using Chinese-style marching. The honor guard, comprising the Public Security Police Force, the Fire Services Bureau, the Customs Service, and the Police Band, played the national anthem, while all those present stood at attention and watched as the national flag and regional flag were slowly raised. The Executive Council of the Macao SAR had previously completed discussion on a draft administrative regulation amending the "Regulations on Salutes and Etiquette," introducing the salute and etiquette methods of the Chinese People's Liberation Army and Chinese-style marching as the standard forms of salute and etiquette, with the regulation taking effect on October 1. A spokesperson for the Executive Council of the Macao SAR stated that the revision was aimed at deepening patriotic education about loving the country and loving Macao, better highlighting national sovereignty and the national spirit, and aligning with national standards.
