Synopsys Signs Multi-Year Chip Design Model Framework Agreement with OpenAI

Synopsys and OpenAI have signed a multi-year binding agreement to jointly develop GPT-Synopsys, a specialized semiconductor design model that combines OpenAI's frontier AI technology with Synopsys' electronic design automation tools. Synopsys provides EDA tools and chip design expertise; OpenAI provides frontier AI models and hosted infrastructure. The binding agreement includes a revenue-sharing arrangement and joint go-to-market collaboration. OpenAI will receive a license to Synopsys' EDA tools for developing the GPT-Synopsys specialized model. GPT-Synopsys will run on OpenAI hosted infrastructure and integrate with Synopsys.ai and the Synopsys Autopilot platform. Customer design data is encrypted, not used for model training, and protected by configurable access controls.
