Norway considers tightening data center approval permits

Norwegian media, citing an interview with Minister of Digitalisation and Public Administration Karianne Tung, reported that the Norwegian government is drafting a white paper that will raise the entry requirements for new data centers. According to NRK, the new rules may raise the requirements for data centers to create economic value locally in Norway, or mandate the utilization of waste heat generated by data centers. Tung stated that tightening the relevant requirements will not hinder the development of the data center industry.
