Starting today, the use of inducement language in online marketing of financial products is prohibited.
Loan products with "low interest rates" and "instant arrival"? Wealth management products with "high returns" and "low risks"? Starting today, these online marketing phrases for financial products are officially banned. The Measures for the Administration of Online Marketing of Financial Products, jointly issued by the People's Bank of China and seven other departments, officially took effect on September 30. The measures set the standard for online marketing content as "truthful, accurate, and easy to understand," and misleading terms and phrases can no longer be used. At the same time, whether explicitly or implicitly, it is prohibited to promote asset management products, investment advisory services, or consulting services as principal-protected, to promise returns, or to limit loss amounts or ratios. This means that online marketing activities for financial products will be further regulated, better safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of financial consumers and investors, and promoting the healthy and orderly development of internet finance.
