International gold prices rose about 1.6%, once refreshing the daily high to above $4,180.

In late New York trading on Tuesday, spot gold rose 1.57% to $4,179.95 per ounce, extending gains since the start of the Asia-Pacific session. Spot silver rose 1.34% to $61.4594 per ounce. COMEX copper futures rose 0.43% to $6.6620 per pound. The Philadelphia Gold and Silver Index, which trades during U.S. stock market hours, closed up 0.36% at 366.23 points. The NYSE Arca Gold Miners Index, which trades throughout the global market day, rose 0.79% to 2,548.42 points. The raw materials index, which trades during U.S. stock market hours, closed down 0.73%, while the metals and mining index closed down 0.95%. The State Street Metals and Mining ETF closed down 1.44% at $103.90.
