U.S. House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer has expanded his investigation into insider trading in prediction markets to Hyperliquid Labs, Crypto.com, and Aristotle Exchange, the parent company of PredictIt, demanding that the three companies submit documents related to customer identity verification, suspicious transaction identification, and reporting mechanisms. In May of this year, Comer launched a similar investigation into Kalshi and Polymarket. The committee has so far received nearly 1,000 documents and held 5 briefings. The expansion comes amid questions over multiple prediction market trades that may have profited from non-public information, including an account on the Hyperliquid platform that established a large leveraged short position minutes before the announcement of an undisclosed U.S. tariff policy. The committee said it will focus on reviewing whether these platforms fulfill their legal obligations and establish sufficient mechanisms to identify and prevent insider trading.
