Wang Yi Meets with Toshimitsu Motegi, Chairman of the Japan Association for the Promotion of International Trade

Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs Wang Yi met with Yohei Kono, Chairman of the Japan Association for the Promotion of International Trade, in Beijing on the 28th. Wang Yi stated that the Japan Association for the Promotion of International Trade is one of the renowned non-governmental friendship organizations and has been committed to the cause of China-Japan friendship since its establishment. Especially when China-Japan relations faced challenges and were damaged, it was still able to uphold its belief in friendship with China and safeguard the political foundation of China-Japan relations. Former Chairman Yohei Kono is a politician with a conscience, who dared to confront Japan's dark history of the past and had the courage to reflect on the crimes of militarist aggression, earning the respect of the people of China and neighboring countries. The past, if not forgotten, is a guide for the future. Only by truly taking history as a mirror can we truly open up the future. This year marks the 80th anniversary of the opening of the Tokyo Trial, and Japan once again faces the interrogation of history. If it is unwilling to learn from historical lessons, challenges the postwar "pacifist constitution," and even attempts to reverse the verdict on the history of aggression and summon the spirits of war criminals, Japan will not be able to face the world, let alone open up the future, and it will be difficult for it to have a future.
