Hong Kong Census and Statistics Department: Average wage rate rose 3.4% year-on-year in June.

According to the Census and Statistics Department of the Hong Kong government on September 28, among all major industry sections covered in the statistical survey, the average wage rate in June 2026 rose by 3.4% year-on-year in nominal terms according to the nominal wage index. In June, about 62% of companies saw their average wage rates rise year-on-year, 33% recorded declines, and the remaining 5% were roughly unchanged. After adjusting for consumer price changes as measured by the Consumer Price Index (A), the real average wage rate in June 2026 rose by 1.6% year-on-year across all major industry sections covered in the survey.
