"China Sky Eye" turns ten years old; in the future it will upgrade from a single eye to an array, increasing resolution by 200 times.

Today marks the tenth anniversary of the completion of the 500-meter Aperture Spherical Radio Telescope (FAST). Over a decade of operation, FAST has continued to probe the vast cosmos and has produced a series of original research achievements. After completing a three-day comprehensive overhaul, today "China Sky Eye" began a new round of observations exploring the universe. Moreover, on a mountain just three to four kilometers from FAST, a 40-meter-aperture telescope of the FAST Phase II test array has reached a key construction milestone. Jiang Peng, director and chief engineer of the FAST Operation and Development Center: We plan to build dozens of 40-meter-aperture telescopes around FAST, creating the world's only comprehensive aperture array "centered on a giant telescope and surrounded by medium-sized telescopes." Once the array is completed, it can increase FAST's resolution by 200 times and its sensitivity by a factor of 1. In the future, the FAST core array will not only be able to see farther, but also see more clearly.
