The 2026 World Skills Conference Shanghai Skills Development Thematic Parallel Session was held today at the National Exhibition and Convention Center. Wang Xiaoping, Minister of Human Resources and Social Security, Zhu Zhongming, Acting Mayor of Shanghai, and David Hoey, CEO of WorldSkills International, attended and jointly signed a letter of intent for cooperation on the World Skills Innovation Center. Yan Qinghui, Vice Minister of Human Resources and Social Security, Chen Jie, Vice Mayor of Shanghai, and David Hoey delivered keynote speeches. According to the letter of intent for cooperation on the World Skills Innovation Center, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, the Shanghai Municipal Government, and WorldSkills International will take the opportunity of hosting the 48th WorldSkills Competition to build the World Skills Innovation Center and promote the long-term sustainable development of the global skills movement. The center aims to become a transformation platform for global skills standards and skills innovation, a core hub of WorldSkills International's global professional operations network, and an inclusive and collaborative innovation engine for the global skills movement, creating a skills practice innovation zone and accelerating the implementation of skills development tasks such as industrial service deployment, ecosystem resource aggregation, and international vocational skills training operations.
