The U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC) voted to investigate a major type of memory product produced by Micron Technology (MU.O) dynamic random access memory (DRAM) as well as several server manufacturers that use these chips in their products. The federal agency said the investigation is based on a complaint filed on behalf of Netlist, a memory supplier based in Irvine, California. The complaint alleges that the companies violated U.S. federal tariff law, accusing certain DRAM devices and products containing them of being imported and sold in the United States in infringement of the company's patents. In addition to Micron, the USITC said it will also investigate server manufacturers Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Super Micro Computer, and Lenovo Group.
