By the end of 2025, China had 3,253 public libraries, 7,188 registered museums, and nearly 44,000 mass cultural institutions, with 1,557 national-level representative intangible cultural heritage items and 3,994 representative inheritors. In 2025, the national cultural industry generated operating revenue of 20.8 trillion yuan, an average annual increase of 8.4 percent during the 14th Five-Year Plan period; domestic tourist trips reached 6.52 billion and total spending reached 6.3 trillion yuan in 2025, both hitting record highs; commercial performances nationwide reached 640,000 shows in 2025, with box office revenue of 61.6 billion yuan, both increasing by more than 6 percent year on year.
