Zhitong Finance APP has learned that on September 21, the China Battery Industry Association stated, citing customs statistics, that from January to August 2026, China's lithium-ion battery exports reached 3.69 billion units, up 22.91% year on year; export value amounted to US$67.549 billion, up 39.9% year on year. In August alone, export volume was 536 million units, up 22.9% year on year and flat month on month; export value was US$9.547 billion, up 33.45% year on year and up 2.1% month on month, overall continuing the steady growth momentum since the first half of the year. The growth rate of export value has consistently exceeded that of export volume, reflecting a rising share of high-value-added categories in China's lithium-ion battery exports, with strong export growth in high-value products such as energy storage battery systems and large-capacity cells. Affected by the export tax rebate policy, August still continued the previous pace of "rushing to export." Although the growth rate has declined somewhat compared with the first half of the year, the absolute scale of exports remains at a high level.
