Conference Board Senior Manager of Business Cycle Indicators: The U.S. leading index fell slightly in August, marking the first monthly decline since March of this year. Of the ten component indicators, four declined from the previous month, with consumer expectations remaining an important drag on the index. Building permits also posted a monthly decline, with both single-family and multifamily categories decreasing, and declines recorded in nearly all regions.
