Data released by Freddie Mac on Thursday showed that as of September 17, the average rate on the 30-year fixed mortgage in the United States rose to 6.95%, up from 6.76% the previous week, marking a fourth consecutive weekly increase and the highest level since January 2025. By comparison, the same period last year saw this rate at only 6.26%.
