Zhito Finance APP has learned that European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has proposed that Canada become the EU's first "quasi-member state." Von der Leyen extended the invitation during a speech in Strasbourg, France, on Wednesday, which Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney attended. Von der Leyen said: "In this new world, we must urgently rethink our partnerships and build global alliances to strengthen our resilience and safeguard our democratic institutions. I want to work with you to open the door for Canada to become the EU's first quasi-member state."
