The Ministry of Natural Resources organized a multidisciplinary comprehensive geological survey in the waters of China's Huangyan Dao.

To comprehensively grasp the basic geological elements and ecological environment conditions of the sea areas under China's jurisdiction, the "Haiyang Dizhi Shi Hao" (Marine Geology No. 10) vessel of the China Geological Survey under the Ministry of Natural Resources conducted a multidisciplinary comprehensive geological survey in the waters of Huangyan Dao from August 11 to September 8. This survey integrated multidisciplinary investigation methods, using single-channel seismic, gravity and magnetic, underway ocean current, conductivity-temperature-depth (CTD), and geological sampling methods to collect basic data on marine hydrology, sedimentary strata, and geophysical fields, as well as seawater, marine organisms, marine sediments, and seabed rock samples. It accumulated reliable first-hand data for further ascertaining the geological and geophysical characteristics and the current state of the ecological environment in these waters, and for conducting research on seabed sediment types, stratigraphic structure, potential geological hazards, geological tectonic evolution, and marine environmental quality assessment. It also provided a scientific basis for China's comprehensive governance in the waters of Huangyan Dao.
