Xi Jinping Sends a Letter to Congratulate Jilin University on Its 80th Anniversary

Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, sent a letter on the 16th congratulating Jilin University on its 80th anniversary, extending congratulations to all faculty, staff and alumni. In the letter, Xi emphasized that at the new starting point, he hopes Jilin University will be guided by the Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, carry forward its red heritage, leverage its comprehensive strengths, focus on national strategic needs, continuously optimize the layout of disciplines and majors, enhance teaching and research standards, and strive to cultivate more high-quality talent, so as to make greater contributions to promoting the full revitalization of Northeast China in the new era and advancing Chinese modernization. Jilin University was founded in 1946. Over the past 80 years, the university has carried forward its fine traditions, persisted in reform and innovation, and cultivated and delivered a large number of talent for all sectors of the country.
