Altman said AI companies should be able to independently advance model capabilities while ensuring safety. He also said he is disappointed with the way recent discussions about the pace of AI development and the necessity of regulation have unfolded. Previously, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei wrote an article warning about the potential risks of AI and proposed that technological development should be slowed down. OpenAI is currently working with Anthropic and Google DeepMind on AI safety issues.
