Google launches Gemini 3.8 Live and Extended Thinking edition, strengthening real-time voice interaction.
On September 15 local time, Google announced the launch of two real-time conversational models, Gemini 3.8 Live and Gemini 3.8 Live Extended Thinking, focusing on enhancing voice interaction, real-time reasoning, and complex task execution capabilities. Google said that Gemini 3.8 Live supports near-real-time visual input, can automatically switch between 97 languages during conversations, and can execute tool and API calls in the background; the Extended Thinking version supports speaking while thinking and is aimed at multi-step complex tasks. The two models have begun to be made available to developers through the Gemini API and Google AI Studio. Gemini 3.8 Live is also launching on Search Live, while the Extended Thinking version is being rolled out to Gemini Live users.
