China's carbon market cumulative trading volume has reached nearly 1 billion tons.

The 2026 China Carbon Market Conference was held today in Wuhan, Hubei. The Ministry of Ecology and Environment released the National Carbon Market Development Report at the conference, which shows that activity in the national carbon emissions trading market has remained at a relatively high level. From January to August this year, the trading volume and turnover of the national carbon emissions trading market rose by 46.53% and 67.64% year on year, respectively. As of the end of August this year, the cumulative trading volume of the national carbon emissions trading market was nearly 1 billion tons, with turnover exceeding 60 billion yuan.
