Data from the National Bureau of Statistics show that the average surveyed urban unemployment rate from January to August was 5.2 percent, unchanged from the same period last year. In August, the surveyed urban unemployment rate was 5.3 percent, up 0.1 percentage point from the previous month. The surveyed unemployment rate for the local registered population was 5.3 percent, while that for the non-local registered population was 5.2 percent, among which the surveyed unemployment rate for the non-local agricultural registered population was 5.0 percent. The surveyed urban unemployment rate in 31 major cities was 5.3 percent, up 0.1 percentage point from the previous month. The average weekly working hours of employees in enterprises nationwide were 48.2 hours.
