Iran intensifies control over the Strait of Hormuz, and a fuel transport vessel repeatedly turned back before coming to a stop.
Iran is intensifying its control over the Strait of Hormuz. A fuel transport vessel zigzagged as it attempted to enter the Persian Gulf, ultimately stopping near Iran's Qeshm Island. Ship tracking data shows that the Amara entered the Persian Gulf empty on Monday, with its transponder remaining active, and it made at least five U-turns. Currently, the ship is located north of a passageway approved by Iran. Iranian semi-official news agency Fars reported on Monday that a tanker belonging to a UAE company was detained in the Strait of Hormuz, but the name of the shipowner was not disclosed. The report also stated that vessels must pay a toll to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
