Five people drowned when a small boat capsized in Huining, Yunnan.

On August 18, according to a report from the Information Office of the People's Government of Huining County, Yuxi City, Yunnan Province, the accident involving the capsizing of a villagers' small boat that occurred on August 12 in the waters of the Nanpan River in Panxi Town has been confirmed. After extensive search and rescue efforts and assessment, all three missing persons have been located, showing no signs of life. The incident resulted in a total of five fatalities. Currently, the aftermath work is proceeding in an orderly manner. In recent days, over 470 rescue personnel from Yuxi City and Huining County have been mobilized for search and rescue operations, including emergency response, firefighting, and public security teams.
