On August 17, a situation report was released by the Taole Town of Pingluo County, Ningxia: On August 16, netizens reported that there was an issue of direct discharge of wastewater from livestock farms polluting underground water along the banks of the Yellow River in Shijiatangzi Village, Taole Town. Our town attached great importance to this and promptly organized efforts to verify and address the situation. Upon investigation, the heap of manure was found to be located within the land owned by a farmer named Zhao in Shijiatangzi Village, covering an area of 1.8 acres and approximately 1.1 kilometers away from the Yellow River in a straight line. This was an initiative by the farmer to improve the soil, and all the manure was dry. Due to recent rainwater accumulation and backflow from the channels, some areas on site had cow dung that appeared in a slurry form, but there was no situation of direct discharge of wastewater from livestock farms. To prevent environmental pollution, all the manure on site has now been covered with soil and removed. Moving forward, Taole Town will take this issue as a warning, increase oversight and inspection of livestock and poultry manure, strengthen policy publicity and guidance, and instruct farmers and planters on the scientific utilization of manure resources. We thank the vast number of netizens and media friends for their attention and supervision.
