UN: 240,000 refugees in South Sudan may lose food assistance after September.

On the 14th local time, UN Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Deputy Emergency Relief Coordinator, Ursula Groves, stated that due to a funding shortfall, food and nutritional assistance for 240,000 refugees in South Sudan may be forced to cease after September. The UN Refugee Agency and the World Food Programme jointly warned that once assistance stops, the risk of malnutrition for refugees will further increase, and the risk of exploitation and abuse for women and children may also intensify.
