Joachim Ruckwied, president of the German Farmers' Association, mentioned that the yields of wheat and rapeseed are expected to be below average this year, and autumn crops such as corn and soybeans may also see notable reductions. Ruckwied indicated that southern Germany is particularly severely affected by the drought, with crops facing the risk of total failure. He also pointed out that the sustained high temperatures and drought have led to decreased yields in forage crops, which in turn have impacted the livestock industry.
