Survey: The Kumamoto earthquake affected nearly 16% of businesses in Japan.
On July 28, a 7.1 magnitude earthquake occurred in Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan. A recent survey showed that nearly 16% of companies across Japan experienced disruptions in their operations due to this earthquake. In the Kyushu region, where Kumamoto is located, over half of the businesses were affected. The Japan Imperial Database Company conducted a questionnaire survey from the 7th to the 12th of this month, querying 938 companies nationwide about whether their operations had been impacted by the earthquake. The results released on the 14th indicated that 15.7% of the respondent companies reported that they had already been affected or anticipated being impacted; in the Kyushu region, as many as 53.9% of companies reported being affected.
