On the evening of August 7, the Beijing Municipal Commission of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, the Beijing Municipal Planning and Natural Resources Commission, and the Beijing Housing Provident Fund Management Center jointly issued a document reducing the social security or individual income tax payment period required for non-Beijing households to purchase commodity housing within the Fifth Ring Road from 2 years to 1 year. The new policy also significantly increases the maximum loan amount for provident fund loans, raising the maximum loan for first-time homebuyers from the previous 1.2 million yuan to 3.4 million yuan, and the maximum loan for second homes from 1 million yuan to 3 million yuan. According to data from the China Index Academy, in the six days following the implementation of the new policy, Beijing saw 2,450 second-hand housing transactions, an increase of 8.6% compared to the previous period; new housing transactions reached 451, an increase of 4.4%.
