French Minister of Agriculture Annie Genevard stated that this summer's heatwaves and drought have caused "extremely severe" losses for French farmers. In an interview on Friday, Genevard mentioned that it is still too early to assess the exact scale of the damage. She said she would meet with officials from across France on August 27 to compile accurate data on crop reductions. "Not all crops have been harvested yet, and there may still be rainfall before the end of the month, which we all hope for," Genevard said. "But we already know that the losses are extremely severe. We are facing both drought and heatwaves, and the combination of these two weather phenomena has had a devastating impact on French agriculture."
