On August 14, 2026, at 5:08 AM, a gas explosion occurred at the Yangmei Mountain coal mine in Lianyuan City, Hunan. Preliminary investigations found that there were 52 workers on duty who entered the mine, of which 44 exited safely, 7 are missing, and 1 is currently undergoing rescue. At present, emergency response and health departments at the city and county levels have organized on-site emergency rescue operations, and the cause of the accident is under further investigation.
