The South Korean stock market has risen, with the benchmark index expected to enter a technical bull market. A rebound in global artificial intelligence trading has driven a swift reversal from last month's historic plunge. On Thursday, the South Korean benchmark Kospi index rose as much as 4.8%, representing a cumulative increase of about 23% since its low on July 30. Major contributions to the index came from heavyweight stocks like Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, with both companies' stock prices rising over 5%. So far this year, driven by retail investor funds, the South Korean Kospi index has risen more than 60%, although it is still down about 24% from its peak at the end of June. In July, the index plummeted 22%, marking its worst monthly performance since the global financial crisis. The market turmoil last month led to a record number of trading suspensions, and instances of the Kospi index experiencing intraday volatility exceeding 5% became common. As the volatility index dropped to its lowest level since April, the market began to regain composure.
