The Central Meteorological Observatory issued an orange rainstorm alert at 18:00 on August 12: It is expected that from 20:00 on August 12 to 20:00 on August 13, there will be moderate to heavy rain in parts of Central and Southern Henan, Northern and Central Hubei, Western Anhui, Southern and Central Jiangsu, Shanghai, as well as parts of Central and Northeastern Hebei and Tianjin, among other areas. Some regions, particularly in Southern Henan, Northern Hubei, and Central Jiangsu, may experience torrential rain (100-180 mm); in addition, there will be scattered moderate to heavy rain in the Northeast, Eastern and Southern Jiangnan, Northern South China, and Eastern Guizhou. Some of these areas may endure short-duration heavy rainfall and strong convective weather such as thunderstorms and gusty winds. Defense guidelines: 1. Governments and relevant departments should carry out emergency measures against heavy rain according to their responsibilities; 2. Disconnect dangerous outdoor power sources and suspend outdoor work; 3. Units in danger zones should suspend classes and business operations, taking special measures to ensure the safety of students, children, and other workers who have arrived at school or work; 4. Ensure proper drainage for urban areas and farmlands, and be cautious of potential disasters such as mountain torrents, landslides, and mudflows.
