Vietnam begins construction of new type of corvette, seeking "strategic autonomy" in domestic weaponry.

According to a report by the News Agency on August 11, a ceremony was held on August 10 in Da Nang, Vietnam, to mark the commencement of construction for a new type of anti-submarine frigate. As reported by Vietnam's state-owned media, this ship is the "largest in tonnage and most technologically advanced" domestically produced warship. Government officials attending the ceremony stated that "strategic independence in weapons and professional equipment must be ensured," emphasizing that modernization of weaponry and equipment will be promoted through domestic production.
