On August 12, local time, the New Zealand National Party held an emergency caucus meeting, and New Zealand Prime Minister Luxon received party support in an internal confidence vote, allowing him to continue in his role as leader of the National Party. The center-right National Party of New Zealand won the parliamentary elections held in October 2023, but since it did not secure a majority of seats, it chose to form a governing coalition with the Act Party and the New Zealand First Party.
