On August 12, the actual ship trial of the Pinglu Canal officially commenced. Four representative vessels will complete the navigation verification under normal and adverse conditions in phases, as well as the efficiency testing of navigation markers along the entire route. The ship trials lay the groundwork for the canal's timely navigation opening in September 2026. The Pinglu Canal is a key project of the new land-sea corridor in the western region, with a total length of 134.2 kilometers, capable of accommodating vessels of 5,000 tons. Once completed, it will facilitate a major water transport corridor for the Southwest region to connect with the sea via the mainstream of the Xijiang River.
