Clashes between the Yemeni government forces and Houthi rebels in Marib province have resulted in 11 deaths.

Yemen News: A military official in Yemen stated on the 11th that government forces clashed with Houthi fighters in Marib province in the country's northeastern region, resulting in the deaths of at least 8 Houthi fighters and 3 government soldiers. This unnamed local military source told Xinhua News Agency reporters that the two sides engaged in intense confrontations near positions close to the capital city of Marib. Government forces destroyed a Houthi communications station and missile launch platform located to the west of Marib city. As of now, the Houthis have not commented on the clash. Marib province is a key stronghold for government forces and a major site for Yemen's oil and gas production. The Houthis have attempted multiple times to advance toward the provincial capital and have had fierce battles with government forces there. In September 2014, the Houthis seized the Yemeni capital, Sanaa. In December 2018, under UN mediation, the Yemeni government and the Houthis reached an agreement on issues such as a ceasefire and prisoner exchanges, but soon afterward, both sides accused each other of violating the ceasefire agreement. Since then, the UN has mediated again, with the Yemeni conflict parties agreeing to a two-month ceasefire starting from April 2, 2022, which was later extended until October 2 of the same year, but no further extension agreements have been reached after the expiration.
