Xinjiang has introduced regulations to ensure the high-quality development of the cotton industry.
On the 11th, reporters learned from a press conference held by the Standing Committee of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region People's Congress that the local regulation titled "Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Cotton Quality Promotion Regulation," aimed at the high-quality development of the cotton industry, officially came into effect on July 1. Mai Liyan Sima Yi, Deputy Secretary-General and spokesperson of the Standing Committee, introduced that the regulation consists of six chapters and 37 articles, covering the entire industrial chain of quality enhancement in cotton planting, harvesting, purchasing, processing, selling, and storage. Effective practices such as notarized inspection, target price policies, on-hand public inspections, and full-chain quality traceability have been elevated to the level of regulatory statutes. This is of great significance for improving the quality level of Xinjiang cotton, boosting income and wealth for various ethnic groups, and maintaining the safety and stability of the cotton textile industry supply chain. It is reported that Xinjiang is the largest production base for high-quality cotton in China, and by 2025, the cotton output in Xinjiang is expected to account for 92.8% of the national total.
