The international standard ISO 19991:2026 "Fusion Technology - Experimental Magnetic Confinement Fusion Facilities - Ultrasonic Molecular Beam Injection Technology for Fusion Devices," led by China, was officially released on August 10, local time. In the final voting process prior to this, all 12 participating countries, including France, Germany, and Russia, cast votes in favor. This is the first ISO international standard in the field of fusion fuel injection and the second ISO international standard in the fusion field developed under the leadership of the China National Nuclear Corporation's Southwest Institute of Physics. The ultrasonic molecular beam injection technology is a key fuel supply technology for controllable nuclear fusion devices. This technology, an advanced fusion fuel injection method originated in China, forms high-speed, directional molecular beams through gas adiabatic expansion, characterized by high speed, strong directionality, high injection efficiency, and low particle recirculation. It can significantly enhance the fuel control capabilities of fusion devices and has been applied in more than ten magnetic confinement fusion experimental devices both domestically and internationally.
