The official stated that early Tuesday morning, a Panamanian vessel attempted to break through the U.S. maritime blockade established against Iranian ports, and U.S. forces fired upon it. The official indicated that U.S. personnel issued multiple warnings, but the crew did not respond. Subsequently, a U.S. military helicopter targeted the ship's steering position. The incident occurred before dawn on Tuesday, and there are currently no reports of casualties. The U.S. official noted that after the attack, the crew of the vessel appeared to be preparing to transfer to another civilian ship. Earlier on Tuesday, maritime security company Valiant Maritime reported that the Panamanian container ship "Vilia Nova" was sailing west through the Gulf of Oman, approximately 71 nautical miles from the coast of Pakistan, when it was attacked by missiles fired from a helicopter.
