According to the Korea Herald on the 10th, South Korean television and YouTube creators are starting to turn stock market anxiety into entertainment content. Unlike traditional financial programs, these shows follow celebrities and artists as they navigate the profits and losses of stock investments. One of the most popular examples of this new type of program focused on stock market sentiment is "The Stock Market Mission of Newbie Jin" launched by Netflix Korea. The show premiered on August 3 and features comedian Kim Won-hoo making his debut in the stock market, where he receives investment guidance from other comedians and participates in various tasks, competing against other participants. In the trailer, Kim Won-hoo reveals that after investing about 180 million Korean won in stocks, he has lost over 20 million Korean won, stating, "Ive nearly lost the value of a car." The show also focuses on two highly watched stocks, Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix. Driven by a surge in demand for AI-related semiconductors and market expectations for further performance improvement, both companies' stock prices hit all-time highs by mid-2026. However, subsequently, the stock prices of both companies plummeted in July.
