Thirty Chinese citizens have been detained for illegal gold mining, and the Chinese Embassy in Papua New Guinea has issued a stern reminder.

According to media reports, in the early hours of August 9, police, the immigration bureau, and the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Petroleum launched a joint law enforcement operation in the Kopani area of the Bougainville Autonomous Region, where they apprehended 30 Chinese citizens suspected of illegal gold mining at an illegal mining site.
