According to foreign media citing informed sources, Apple (AAPL.O) is still planning a major design overhaul for the iPhone with a glass-centric design to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the device. This contradicts previous reports from analysts suggesting that the plan had been canceled. Sources indicate that Apple is expected to launch the new iPhone Pro models featuring an entirely new glass exterior next year. These phones are internally codenamed V73 and V74, featuring glass materials on both the front and back, which will curve around the sides of the device, with a metal frame in the middle. Apple's design studio had pushed for a more futuristic version that employed more glass and contained almost no metal, but this idea was abandoned in the early stages. According to sources, Apple encountered problems connecting the glass panels with this design, making it unable to meet mass production requirements.
