Today, the world's largest impact-type hydropower unit successfully completed the rotor installation at the Datang Zhala Hydropower Station, marking Chinas advanced technology in ultra-high head and large-capacity impact hydropower equipment as leading on a global scale. This significantly boosts the construction of the clean energy base in southeastern Tibet. The Datang Zhala Hydropower Station is a key project in the national Tibet Electricity Export initiative, consisting of two 500 megawatt impact units, making it the largest single-unit capacity equipment of its type in the world. As the first major technological equipment in Chinas energy sector, it possesses technical advantages such as high altitude, high water head, and large capacity. The installed rotor serves as the "power heart" that facilitates energy conversion in the generator. Weighing about 840 tons, it is equivalent to the total weight of 560 family cars. Its successful installation signifies that the project has entered the final sprint phase before commissioning. Once fully operational, the power station is expected to generate nearly 4 billion kilowatt-hours of clean green electricity annually, saving 1.3 million tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 3.42 million tons.
