Today, the world's largest impact-type hydroelectric unit successfully completed the rotor installation at the Datang Zhala Hydropower Station, marking a significant advancement in China's core technology for ultra-high head, large-capacity impact hydroelectric equipment, placing it among the world's leading ranks. This development strongly supports the construction of the clean energy base in southeastern Tibet. The Datang Zhala Hydropower Station is a key project in the national "Tibet Power Transmission" initiative, equipped with two 500-megawatt impact units, making it the largest single-unit capacity equipment of its kind globally. As the first major technological equipment in China's energy sector, it features technical advantages such as high altitude, high water head, and large capacity. The rotor installed in this operation is the "power heart" that enables energy conversion in the generator unit. Weighing approximately 840 tons, it is equivalent to the total weight of 560 family sedans. Its successful installation signifies that the project has entered the final sprint phase before production begins. Once fully operational, the power station can generate nearly 4 billion kilowatt-hours of clean green electricity annually, saving 1.3 million tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 3.42 million tons.
