Law enforcement agencies are cracking down on crimes that infringe upon citizens' personal information.

On August 11, the Cybersecurity Administration of the Ministry of Public Security announced 10 typical cases of combating crimes that infringe on citizens' personal information. These 10 typical cases reveal that criminals illicitly obtain large amounts of citizens' personal information and profit from it through means such as bribery, hacking, and collusion. For example, a gang led by Yang used cash rewards as bait to lure people into registering real-name e-commerce accounts and business licenses, which they then resold, facilitating crimes like money laundering; the gang led by Wu instructed "insiders" to work for a real estate agency to gain access to the internal system, then used technical means to bulk scrape and resell agent information for decoration companies to use in marketing, taking a commission in return. Currently, those involved in the 10 cases have been dealt with according to the law. The Cybersecurity Administration of the Ministry of Public Security reminds the public to properly safeguard, store, and utilize their personal information, and to promptly report any clues about personal information leaks to the police and relevant departments, using legal means to protect their rights.
