According to Beijing Release, the 2026 International Conference on Basic Sciences opened in Huairou District on the morning of August 9. Municipal Party Secretary Yin Li attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech, and Municipal Party Deputy Secretary and Mayor Yin Yong was also present. The conference, themed "Focusing on Basic Sciences, Leading the Future of Humanity," aims to promote international exchange and cooperation in basic sciences, advance scientific progress, and benefit humanity. World-renowned scientists, including multiple Fields Medal and Turing Award winners, as well as experts and scholars from home and abroad, gathered by Yanqi Lake to engage in academic discussions and exchanges focusing on fundamental scientific fields such as mathematics, physics, information science, and engineering. During the event, the Basic Sciences Medal and the Frontier Science Award were also presented.
