Yudonglai issued a statement in response to the closure of the Pang Donglai Xuchang Life Plaza store.

On August 9, the founder of Pangdonglai, Yu Donglai, responded to the closure of the Xuchang Life Plaza. "The mistakes caused by unprofessionalism are beyond monetary measure. Around 2015, regarding the Xuchang Life Plaza, due to the staff responsible for this project not following company regulations, there were work errors, and the leasing contracts were not uniformly signed, which ultimately resulted in certain tenants facing rent increases to an unimaginable extent, far from fairness. This made it impossible for the company to withdraw because many contracts had already been signed, and continuing was not feasible either, leading to constant emotional distress. In fact, these few tenants do not account for a significant proportion overall, but no matter how much money is involved, losing the spirit of fairness and justice is the bottom line, and this has always been a knot in my heart over the years." Yu Donglai expressed, "So when the time comes, even though Life Plaza generates two billion in sales a year, with over a hundred million in profits, faith and happiness will always come first. Previously, Yu Donglai announced during a live stream that the Pangdonglai Xuchang Life Plaza store will officially close in December 2026.
