Shaanxi emergency communications achieve a new breakthrough in 5G inter-network roaming.
According to mass media reports, on August 5 at 10 PM, Shaanxi Mobile initiated 5G inter-network roaming services in areas affected by flooding in Zhen'an County, Shanyang City, providing 5G network roaming access for customers of other operators. This technology is used in emergency scenarios, allowing users to connect to another operator's 5G network without needing to change their SIM card or number when their own operator's network is interrupted, enabling free calls and internet access. This is the first time such a function has been utilized for communication security during flood seasons in our province. The successful activation validates the cooperative support capability of 5G inter-network roaming across different companies, and demonstrates operational feasibility across all aspects such as initiation and cessation processes, service configuration, and monitoring support under real flood conditions. It effectively enhances the network disaster recovery resilience throughout the province and solidifies the communication "lifeline" to safeguard the lives and property of the people and ensure smooth coordination in flood prevention and disaster relief efforts.
