In the first half of the year, the number of domestic tourist trips reached 3.463 billion, with a total expenditure of 3.21 trillion yuan.

According to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, based on a sampling survey of domestic residents' travel, in the first half of 2026, the number of domestic trips taken by residents reached 3.463 billion, an increase of 178 million compared to the same period last year, representing a year-on-year growth of 5.4%. Among them, urban residents made 2.594 billion domestic trips, with a year-on-year increase of 5.8%, while rural residents made 869 million domestic trips, with a year-on-year increase of 4.3%. Analyzing by quarter, in the first quarter, the number of domestic trips taken by residents was 1.901 billion, with a year-on-year growth of 6.0%; in the second quarter, the number was 1.562 billion, with a year-on-year growth of 4.8%. In the first half of 2026, the total expenditure by domestic residents on travel reached 3.21 trillion yuan, an increase of 60 billion yuan compared to the previous year, representing a year-on-year growth of 2.0%. Among this, urban residents' travel expenditure was 2.66 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 2.2%; rural residents' travel expenditure was 560 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 0.6%.
